ABOUT
Starting with an idea, concept, or problem space, I always begin my design process with extensive research. Online research, interviews, surveys, and market testing are just some of the ways I gather the information needed to properly address the design in questions.
Once I have a wholistic understanding of the challenge ahead of me, I move to concepting & prototyping. Here, I use both my 3D modeling expertise in combination with my physical prototyping skills to search for a solution that is functional, beautiful, and meets the criteria laid out by the project itself.
In the later stages of physical product development, I lean more heavily on my graphic design skills to convey critical details to internal team members and external manufacturing partners alike.
I start my design process for digital assets much the same way I start designing physical products, with research. In order to create a visual piece that tells the right narrative, it is imperative to have a complete understanding of the story being told.
Before making my first sketch, I collect all the assets I will need to face to the design challenge ahead of me. With a broad collection of media, both inspirational and usable, I begin laying down my first sketch, adding my first adjustment layer, and importing my first clip.
Often times, telling a story through a digital piece requires a variety of digital tools. I have experience using a broad range of tools from physical sketches to the Adobe Creative Suite that will allow me to create any digital assets we might need.

InTheHills Movie Segment - HILLBOMB
Filmed & Edited By: Jake Quilter | Full Movie Available on Youtube
One of my proudest moments throughout my biking career thus far has been my film segment in the movie HillBomb, by InTheHillsGang. InTheHills is a freeride mountain biking crew that was born out of a group of friends going to school in Durango, CO, and has grown to be one of the best known riding crews in freeride today. I am lucky enough to call myself a friend, associate, and member of InTheHills and both myself and my filmer, Jake Quilter, put our everything into this project. My segment is playing above but be sure to check the full film on YoutTube!
In order to enjoy riding bikes as I have for the past 8 years, communities need places where riders, diggers, and filmers can express themselves freely. Unfortunately, places like this are hard to come by and often strictly regulated, destroying any creative opportunities.
When I first moved to Utah, i-street wasn't even an official bike park and I had to physically search the outskirts of the city until I found a small plot of land refered to as i-street. I started going more and more, and at some point I was attending the park every single day.
In order to ensure that i-street is protected and continues to serve generations of bike riders into the distant future, the city has adopted the land as an official park. They then identified a small group of core "stewards" who will continue to maintain and shape the park moving forward.
